River Mist is a beautiful Jamaican home in a private gated community overlooking Montego Bay.  Set on 5 acres, the property is absolutely exquisite and offers a relaxing vacation with magnificent views of the Caribbean Sea.  The owners of River Mist have recently renovated the villa and have captured the feel of ‘old’ Jamaica by their use of antiques, art, and architecture. River Mist is a perfect tropical retreat!

The villa is entered through beautiful wrought iron gates, made by the well-known ironworker Frank May, that lead you into the very stylish and spacious living room.  With a cool stone floor, washed cut-stone walls, white canvas fabric, walnut vaulted ceiling, Jamaican antique furniture, and Caribbean art, our guest’s feel immediately embraced by our islands culture and architectural history.  Created as an area for family and friends to come together, the living room offers an inside bar, stereo/CD system, 50” flat screen television with cable and DVD player, piano, guitar, and plenty of space for games.  The elegant dining room with seating for eight is situated right off the living room.  Surrounded by louvre windows this open and airy room has an antique sideboard, chandelier, sofa and two ceiling fans.

French style doors open out onto an extensive verandah that offers a wonderful indoor/outdoor living area with traditional wicker furniture, card/games table, dining area and hammock.  Many of our guests have spent hours on this verandah enjoying the tropical trade winds and the breathtaking view. For those with children, the verandah also allows you to keep tabs on your little ones, whether they are swimming in the pool or out playing in the garden.

A traditional Jamaican two-sided staircase descends a few feet to the pool deck and garden. The pool deck offers seating areas and lounge chairs to soak up all that wonderful Jamaican sun and a perfectly situated wet bar means you do not have to go far for a refreshment.  River Mist is also stocked with a large selection of pool accessories for both young and old alike.  Just off the pool deck is a large gazebo with really comfortable wrap around seating and a ceiling fan.  This area is ideal for reading, chatting, getting out of the midday sun, and even for an afternoon nap!  At night, the pool deck can also be turned into an intimate dinner area under the stars.  This is truly memorable! The garden at River Mist is simply beautiful with a gently sloping lawn where palm trees and tropical flowers abound. For the children, the lawn offers a trampoline and swing while hammocks are available for everyone’s enjoyment.

River Mist has a staff of five.  Herbert is the chef and he has been serving visitors to Jamaica for the past twenty years and has a flair for culinary delights. Lorna is the housekeeper and is immaculate in her work. Monica is the villa laundress and will be more than happy to do any laundry that you may require.  Vernon is the gardener and works tirelessly to keep the garden so beautiful. And Frank is the pool-man who comes in each day to ensure that the pool is in top working order.

River Mist has 4 air-conditioned bedrooms with wooden floors and fans and three en suite bathrooms. The bedrooms are all furnished with Jamaican antiques and offer a fabulous view of the Caribbean Sea.

We have realized that some of our guests still have to put in work time even while they are on vacation.  For that reason River Mist is happy to provide wireless-internet access as well as our own computer complete with an all in one print/fax/scan/copy/ machine.

During your stay we will also provide you with a local cellular phone and number. That way you can go on excursions and still be in contact with the villa at all times.

For our guests with small children we also have available a crib, high chair, movies, books and games.
 
Villa guests will also have complimentary beach passes to Jamaica's famous Doctor's Cave Beach Club, a twelve- minute drive from the villa. This gives access to the beach where you can enjoy offshore reef for snorkeling. (Fees may apply to various water sports.) 10 to 15 minutes drive from River Mist.

Bedroom 1 - King size bed, bedside tables, armoire, 40” television with cable access, stereo, dressing table, sofa, rocking chairs, desk, bookcase, ceiling fan, and walk in closet. The bathroom offers a walk in shower.

Bedroom 2 - Queen size bed, bedside tables, desk, dressing table, chair, trunk, and a I-pod dock.  The bathroom offers a large bath with both shower and hand-held fixtures.

Bedroom 3 - King size bed, bedside tables, armoire with hanging space and drawers, bench, desk, and a I-pod dock.  The bathroom offers a large bath with shower.
 
Bedroom 4 - Two twin beds, bedside table, chest of drawers, dressing table, Lloyd Loom chair, bookcase, and a child’s chair.

All bedrooms have air-conditioned and fans. Three have en suite bathrooms.
